Atkins Diet

The dieter is advised to consume plenty of sausages poultry, meats, seafood, cheeses, eggs, oils, margarine, butter, and bacon. However, the dieter must stay away from grains, breads fruits, milk, cereals, alcohol or beverages, fruits, pasta or other starchy veggies. The other restricted foods include high GI veggies such as peas, potatoes, carrots and corn etc.
  2. The second phase of the Atkins diet program is the ongoing weight loss. In this phase the amount of carb intake is increased by 5 grams each day. The phase continues till the time the weight is within 10 pounds of the target weight of body.
  3. The next phase is called the pre-maintenance phase. After reducing your weight to the target weight you need to maintain this weight for at least next four weeks. So that you get used to a healthy lifestyle and never become overweight once again in your life.
  4. The last phase is known as the lifetime maintenance phase. This refers to continuing with controlled eating habits as suggested by the diet program, so that you can maintain your target weight forever. The quantity of carbohydrates in your diet should never go above 40 to 90 grams.
